Wayne Spransy

Wayne Spransy started his career in public accounting with Scharf Pera & Co., PLLC in 1978. Over the next six years, he worked his way up to becoming a manager in the accounting and auditing area of the firm. In 1984, Wayne left Scharf Pera & Co., PLLC to serve as the Chief Financial Officer for Raycom, Inc., a pioneer in college sports broadcasting and event management.

At Raycom, Inc., Wayne gained experience in all facets of financial management, public relations, corporate legal matters and corporate financing. He developed corporate budgets, long-term business plans and financial projections, cash flow projections, employee benefits programs, executive compensation programs, credit management and was responsible for all financial reporting and tax compliance and planning. He directly contributed to the company growth from a $10 million to $100 million in revenue and position as leader in its industry.

After twelve years in private industry accounting, Wayne returned to public accounting, rejoining Scharf Pera & Co., PLLC as a member in 1996. With his extensive knowledge and experience of internal accounting issues, he provides valuable insight to our clients, especially in the accounting and auditing area and the financial, management and operational consulting areas of the firm.

Wayne is an avid walker and UNC Tar Heel fan.
